SME Bank and BanhJi Fin-tech Signed Memorandum of Understanding to Cooperatively Promote and Develop SMEs in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, 16th December, 2021 – To continue to actively contribute to the economic recovery during the Covid-19 epidemic and, in particular, to support the sustainable and workable ecosystems for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs in Cambodia, SME Bank of Cambodia has partnered with BanhJi Fin-tech to mutually commit to promote and develop SMEs and to amplify the impacts within Cambodian business community.


Under this cooperation, SME Bank and BanhJi Fin-tech are committed in the purpose of improving financial inclusion, SME Bank and BanhJi shall work together to develop new digital products and/or financial products and/or processes for existing and new clients that in line with SME Bank’s strategic directions. This includes (but not limited to) the development of digital financing platform and program for the SME Bank’s targeted business sectors.


Mr. Lim Aun, Chief Executive Officer of SME Bank, stated that “SME Bank has been providing attractive financial services including low interest rate and favorable terms that facilitates SME customers in accessing loans. In the future, SME Bank plans to develop a wider distribution network for potential customers and to facilitate the Bank’s financial transactions. The Bank will invest more in opening new branches and strengthening the technology infrastructure, as well as to partner with other institutions in order to better serve SME customers in Cambodia.”


Mr Chankiriroth SIM, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BanhJi said, “We are thrilled to partner with SME Bank. Powering MSMEs’ financial inclusion is our mission and this work is steeped in collaboration between financial institutions and technology companies. Together, BanhJi and SME Bank will co-develop innovative digital solutions to the financial management challenges that Cambodian MSMEs face every day.”


Mr. Lim Aun further added that “For instance, SME Bank has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BanhJi Fin-tech to mutually commit to BanhJi Fin-tech clients to be able to successfully start and expand their businesses.”
