On the morning of Saturday, February 8, 2025, SME Bank of Cambodia convened its 2025 Annual General Meeting under the theme “ONE SME” at Novotel in Sihanoukville. The meeting was presided over by H.E. Dr. PHAN Phalla, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SME Bank of Cambodia, alongside members of the Board of Directors, management, and approximately 210 staff from all levels of the Bank. This meeting was special compared to previous ones, as it marked the 5th anniversary of the Bank (2020-2025).
Mr. Chea Sophak, Acting Chief Executive Officer of SME Bank of Cambodia, presented a summary report on the Bank’s progress in 2024 and unveiled the strategic plan for 2025. He also summarized the results SME Bank has achieved over the past five years. As of today, SME Bank of Cambodia has offered affordable financing schemes with low interest rates between 4% and 6.5% for priority sectors, benefiting more than 3,400 SMEs, equivalent to a total loan balance of 500 million US dollars. Of this, loans disbursed to the processing and manufacturing sectors, which are the Bank’s priority sectors, amounted to approximately 70 million US dollars, representing 50% of the total direct lending. The Cambodian Women Enterprise Scheme accounted for approximately 44 million US dollars, equivalent to 36% of the total direct lending.
In response, H.E. Dr. PHAN Phalla, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SME Bank of Cambodia, praised and expressed his appreciation for the management and staff who worked hard throughout 2024. He also congratulated them on the achievements the team accomplished over the past five years. At the same time, His Excellency emphasized the expectations set by the Board of Directors for 2025 and provided many recommendations to the management and staff to promote work efficiency.
Every year, the bank organizes annual meetings, dinner gatherings, and group activities to strengthen the relationship between management and staff, recognize and encourage the efforts of outstanding employees, and foster solidarity and teamwork.
